Our trip to Milan

Logan and I traveled to Milan this weekend, a mini weekend gateway! It was really nice for just the both of us to travel the two of us. On our trip, we had a lot of delicious food and experiences. I wanted to share a bit of our journey through photos below!

First stop: L'ov Milano

This was a small little restaurant/cafe' with excellent food, staff, and atmosphere.
Pasta cabonara: No it was not really the way Chef taught us in class, but it was absolutely delicious. Seasoned to perfection, al dente pasta, and an egg "sauce" like no other.
Logan & I shared a ceasar salad... no this was not like any other ceasar salad that I have ever had, but it was very tasty. There was chicken, apple, and dill on both radicchio and lettuce. The dressing was a creamy dill, which had a very fresh and fragrant taste.
This was a "flourless chocolate torta," but really it should be named best dessert in Italy. The bottom was more of a cookie crust with a baked chocolate ganache or so on top. It was not overpowering in flavor, but absolutely perfect. This was by far the best simple dessert I have had here in Italy.

Next: The Duomo/Cathedral

Here we went inside and to the top! The pictures do not do it justice, but it is absolutely beautiful.

Mercato di Pesce (Fish Market)

We went here because Chef told us it was the largest in Italy and the next largest would probably be the one in Japan! This did not disappoint with many different varieties of fish, vendors, and people. It was an experience that was worth the drive.

Aquarium

On Saturday, it was raining a lot and we were looking for things to do inside. We found the aquarium, which was inside a very old building. Even though aquariums are more for kids, it was cool to see the difference between the ones here versus the ones at home. This was very small with only one floor, but had a lot of variety of different fish and sea creatures.

Lunch near the Duomo

We had a good lunch in the galleria area, even though we were skeptical at first. The bread was very flavorful and had a lot of variety from focaccia to plain bread, they had it all.
I also had a saffron risotto because Milan is known for this tradition. This was different through because it was served in a dehydrated Parmesan crisp bowl. It was really cool and added another flavor and texture. There was not a lot of cheese in the risotto, but the cheese sort of melted from the outside. I thought this was a creative twist on a traditional dish.

 Laduree Paris

No we were not in Paris, but these are some of the best macarons in the world. I was so excited to see it in Milan, as I thought it was just in Paris. I got 8 different flavors and they did not disappoint.

The Ambrosiana Museum

This was a museum suggested to us by our history professor and it was beautiful. There were paintings, artifacts, and many other things. It was beautifully displayed as well!

Dinner at The Prime Restaurant

When in Milan, make sure you have a reservation! We looked for places online and found this one which we could make reservations for. The food was very good and a twist on some traditional dishes. For some reason, I got a lot of fish!
 The bread was excellent!
Squid ink pasta with clams and dill in butter and garlic
Excellent flavors, freshness, and presentation
 Grilled fish variety
My favorite piece was the salmon that still had the skin on
Another delicious chocolate dessert!
Molten Lava Cake (May be the best lava cake I have ever had... sorry CIA!)

We did so much more, but I don't want to post it all as it would get very long! These were just a few of my favorite. I hope you are enjoying reading about our adventures as much as I am having fun writing about them! Let me know in the comments.

With love,
Baylee
