The Adventure Has Begun!

When you stop and look around at your surroundings, you can really see some incredible things.

Yesterday was extremely long, arriving in Rome, then Brindisi, followed by a long drive to the Masseria in Ugento. It was definitely worth it when we walked into the Masseria though, because this place is amazing! We are truly grateful for the opportunity we have been provided because everything is here is absolutely impeccable. From the friendly staff to the amenities on property, we are sure to have a great experience here.

Yesterday, we arrived at the Masseria around 8 pm and had a wonderful dinner prepared by the chefs here that included a meat and potato stew, a noodle soup, and a delicious cake with a chocolate filling. We all went to sleep pretty early after our long travels!

Today we started our day with a delicious breakfast of eggs, pancakes, and salumi. We then spoke with Chef Odette, our chef instructor here, and Massimo, the owner of the Masseria and Castello. Then we went to the beautiful Castello for a tour where we will be having our classes. Since the Castello is a national monument, nothing can be put on the walls, therefore everything is suspended. This allows them to be able to take everything out of there and the Castello would look as though they were never there. The art work and planning that has gone into the renovation is astounding.

On Tuesdays, instead of wearing pink we eat pizza! There is a gorgeous wood burning pizza oven that the chef at the Masseria uses to create the pizzas. They just kept them coming until we were all super stuffed! Molto bene!

With Love,
Baylee
